Baby Got Back: Is the Brazilian Butt Lift the New Botox?

Appreciation posts for beautiful backsides are everywhere, from billboards to social media. The subtle yet constant reaffirmation of the “ideal butt” leaves a lot of women wanting to give their own backsides a boost, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Some women are dedicated to working out for a firmer behind. Some settle for traditional butt pads and jeans that supposedly make the tush look good. Others, however, opt for a Brazilian butt lift to tighten and enhance the shape of their backsides. The popularity of the third option is steadily rising and making way for diversity in cosmetic surgical procedures such as Botox and lip augmentation.

What is the Brazilian Butt Lift?

According to Dermatologic Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery, the Brazilian butt lift is an augmentation procedure that Brazilian plastic surgeon Ivo Pitanguy pioneered and perfected. It takes fats from unwanted areas (i.e. the abdomen, arms, and inner thighs) via liposuction and transfers them to the derrière at different layers. The procedure also removes fat around the body part for a better shape and projection.

Who can go for the butt augmentation procedure?

Butt augmentation is now in demand in many cosmetic surgical clinics. Ideally, you should be in good health for it, but anyone may ask their local cosmetic surgeon for the procedure.

When you consult with a surgeon, they will run through your medical and health history before deeming you fit for the augmentation. Afterwards, they will discuss the process and the results. The actual process will take two to three hours. Swelling and mild to moderate pain are likely effects, so you’ll be wearing a compression garment for three weeks and not be able to sit on chairs for one.

There is no denying that this is the era of firm and perky butts. There is also nothing wrong with wanting one, so go for it. Give your butt — and confidence — a boost.
